These bassets are cut out of 3/32 inch steel and the flags are of 1/16 inch steel. We have allowed the surface to rust slightly and then sprayed it with clear satin lacquor. With time, the lacquor will wear off and the they will rust more and achieve a beautiful patina. Of course, these Welcome Signs also look good painted...especially if you take the time to do the flag in red, white and blue !
